For cities and community groups
Quiet power at the farmers market. A plan for the next heat wave.
Citypack is a Los Angeles field team running battery power in place of gas generators in Culver City. We also consult on heat relief and outage support. Our crew speaks with vendors and residents in English and Spanish.

What we do
Battery power is running today in Culver City. Heat relief and outage work are consulting for now, with pilots in the works.
-
01
Clean power for events and city work
Generators put exhaust and engine noise right next to food stalls and crowds. We size batteries for each site and drop them off charged before setup. A named lead is reachable all day, and after close the batteries come back to us for recharging.

02
Heat relief planning
We consult with cities on emergency cooling, including which residents need it and how portable AC units could be delivered and set up.
-
03
Outage planning
We consult with cities on which community sites would need backup power during an outage, and how our batteries and delivery crew could get it there.
-
04
Outreach
At markets and events, our crew answers questions from vendors and residents in English and Spanish.
Case study
Culver City's Portable Battery Program
- 219batteries deployed
- 33community and special events
- 13,000 lbscarbon emissions reduced in the first five months
- $164Kfrom Clean Power Alliance's Innovation Fund
Deployments March–July 2026. Figures as reported by the City of Culver City and Clean Power Alliance.
What the City needed
Culver City wanted generators gone from city events, markets and field work. Batteries cost more up front, are heavy, and need charging. The City needed a partner to handle them and help vendors get comfortable using them.
How it runs
- Charged batteries arrive before setup and leave after close. Vendors don't buy, move or charge anything.
- We walk each vendor through setup before their first day on battery power.
- Field crews get daily portable power for maintenance work.
- Every deployment is logged.
The batteries power the weekly farmers' market, Movies in the Park, the Art Walk & Roll festival and other community celebrations. They're free to vendors and organizers during the pilot.
“Culver City is showing that sustainability can be practical, visible and directly connected to community life.”
“This portable battery program is a practical example of that work. I'm grateful to Clean Power Alliance for supporting this pilot.”
